LIN 2012 5th Annual Learning Innovation Network Conference

The 5th Learning Innovation Network (LIN) Annual Conference took place on 11th October 2012 in the Ashling Hotel, Dublin, Ireland.  LIN, a sectoral project, is the network of academic professionals from higher education that support academic professional development (APD) for staff in the Institutes of Technology and DIT. The LIN conference provides a forum to discuss practice and theory in higher education.

The conference theme is Inspiring Creativity, Innovation and Change in Higher Education.  The three sub-themes are:

  • Creativity
  • Innovation
  • Change


The opening session of the conference was presented by Ewan McIntosh, ( who considered innovations that are occurring in education currently and how these could be utilised in higher education in Ireland.  His talk was entitled 60-minute chef: The Ingredients of Creativity and Innovation.


Keynote: Lord David Puttnam (Queensgate), C.B.E.

In his speech Lord Puttnam considered the ways in which higher education can be best be developed in a digital age. He will look at the impact of digital technologies on learning and their capacity to contribute to a more informed, fulfilled and prosperous society.
